Boulevard R started out as a conversation between Jon and Matt Iverson over lunch in June 2005. As Jon was just about to turn 59 1/2 and start withdrawing savings from his retirement accounts without incurring a penalty, he was trying to figure out the best way to go about it. Curious to learn more about personal finance, Matt started looking into solutions and soon they both realized that there were plenty of folks who wanted to sell them something, but virtually no sources of independent, unbiased advice that didn't cost thousands of dollars.

Since at the time Matt was working for one of the leading consumer advocates in California, who was the founding director of Consumers Union's (publishers of Consumer Reports) West Coast Office, he started to look into the issues facing consumers who couldn't afford to hire an independent financial planner.

What they found was a real need for actionable, unbiased advice provided by independent financial planners.

What they created by working with leading financial experts is Boulevard R and its 3-step process to get consumers on track for a secure future by providing highly actionable financial Roadmaps prepared by Certified Financial PlannersTM that just about everyone in America can easily afford.

With all that's happened recently in the sub-prime mortgage market and a recent unprecedented drop in retirement confidence, it's plainly apparent to Jon and Matt that independent, unbiased and actionable financial advice is sorely needed by consumers, regardless of their income or assets. If more consumers would have had access to services like Boulevard R, then maybe we wouldn't be in such a tough economic situation.
