About Sean Cook
I am an independent fee-based planner helping families and individuals achieve financial success and independence as they head to their "spending years."
You don't get a do-over, and the change from accumulation to distribution is a critical financial period in your life when experienced advice can make a huge difference. Real-world planning and investment solutions combined with wise choices can help you reach your goals.
I have helped many clients see through the fog of retirement issues. And I am proud to have helped clients adjust their sails to navigate under the "new rules" of investing.
I have been in financial planning since 1998 and am a Certified Financial Planner(R). My occupational passion is to be a "financial sherpa" - giving valued advice and helping hundreds of clients reach the summit of long-term financial success and safety.
My area of planning focus includes retirement and income distribution planning. This means integrating diverse considerations and answering questions around areas such as:
- when to take social security benefits (and spousal benefits)
- what order to draw upon assets
- whether to convert to a Roth IRA
- how to make sure a spouse is okay if something bad happens to you
- adjusting to the negative effect of "reverse dollar cost averaging"
- how to aim for real investment growth
...and many more.
Because the investment engine driving the long term financial success or failure of most plans should run smoothly, my focus in the investment area is on dynamic asset allocation. Strategies do exist that "don't stay wrong for long", or in other ways try to protect against deep losses. Finding ways for clients to look for an edge in this area is gratifying.
Through personal experience, I have also gained a wealth of knowledge in areas of concern to growing families and the sandwich generation.
